About Us

Founded by Madina Rakhim and Petr Pavlu, The Family Tennis is a Tampa Bay academy built on one mission — to nurture future professionals from the very first swing. Our passion is growing young athletes from childhood, giving them the foundation, discipline, and love for the game they need to compete at the highest level. With personalized coaching focused on both technique and mental strength, we guide every player from age 4 all the way to the pro stage.

Madina Rakhim — Head Coach at The Family Tennis
Head Coach

Madina Rakhim

With deep roots in professional tennis — both as a competitor and a mentor — Madina has spent her career shaping the next generation of elite athletes. Her journey from the court to the coaching bench gives her a unique perspective on what it takes to succeed at every level.

  • Competed internationally as Kazakhstan's top-ranked female player, appearing in the Billie Jean King Cup (formerly Fed Cup)
  • Served as National Team Captain, guiding pros like Yaroslava Shvedova, Zarina Diyas, Sesil Karatancheva, Galina Voskoboeva, and Amina Rakhim
  • Earned a full athletic scholarship to Wichita State University, where she competed as the top seed in both singles and doubles at the NCAA Division I level
  • Led the national "Team Kazakhstan" development program, training the country's most talented junior players
  • Captained Kazakhstan's U12 and U14 Girls Teams at the World Junior Cup
  • Won the Asian Championship U12 as team captain
Petr Pavlu — Coach at The Family Tennis
Coach

Petr Pavlu

Petr brings years of hands-on experience from the professional WTA Tour, where he helped players break into the world's elite. His technical knowledge and eye for detail make him equally effective with beginners and advanced competitors alike.

  • Worked with Zarina Diyas on the WTA Tour, helping her secure wins against Top 10 opponents such as Jelena Jankovic, Elina Svitolina, and Petra Kvitova
  • Part of the coaching team behind Marie Bouzkova's rise to world #41 on the WTA rankings
  • Since relocating to the U.S., has built players from the ground up — producing USTA tournament winners in under 18 months
  • Served as Davis Cup Junior Captain and Federico Cup Coach for Kazakhstan
  • Guided a player from unranked to ITF #53 in just 2.5 years
  • Extensive experience across Junior and Adult Grand Slams, Fed Cup, Davis Cup, and WTA, ITF, ETA, ATF tournaments
